Michael Marriott is one of the world's foremost authorities on roses, with a career spanning more than four decades dedicated to their cultivation, design and conservation. After studying Agricultural Botany at the University of Reading, he joined David Austin Roses in 1985, where he spent 35 years working alongside the late David Austin and played a pivotal role in the development and international success of the renowned English Roses. As Senior Rosarian, he advised gardeners around the world, designed prestigious rose gardens and helped shape one of the most influential collections of modern roses ever created.

Michael has designed rose gardens for some of Britain's most celebrated landscapes, including Windsor Castle, the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew, Hampton Court Palace and Queen Mary's Gardens in Regent's Park, as well as advising on the gardens at Highgrove. An accomplished lecturer, author and international speaker, he is widely respected for his practical, organic approach to rose growing and his belief that healthy, beautifully designed gardens begin with choosing the right plants for the right place.
