Eliot Barden represents a new generation of horticulturists, combining exceptional technical knowledge with a passion for growing healthier, more resilient trees for the landscapes of tomorrow. As Operations Director at Majestic Trees, one of the UK's leading specimen tree nurseries, Eliot oversees every stage of production, from sourcing and growing to aftercare, apprenticeships and professional training. A graduate of the prestigious Kew Diploma with Honours, he also completed the Kew Apprenticeship and achieved both RHS Levels 2 and 3 with Distinction before joining Majestic Trees in 2018.

In recognition of his outstanding contribution to horticulture, Eliot was named UK Young Grower of the Year in 2022 before going on to win the AIPH International Young Grower of the Year award in 2023, competing against the world's finest young growers. His work focuses on the production of exceptional specimen trees, sustainable nursery practices and helping designers select trees that will thrive in a changing climate. Through his extensive experience in sourcing, growing and establishing mature trees, he brings a unique understanding of how successful tree planting begins long before a tree reaches the landscape.

At The English Gardening School, Eliot tutors on the Garden Design Diploma, helping students develop a deeper understanding of tree selection, production and climate resilience. His practical insight into how trees are grown, specified and established enables students to make informed decisions that will shape resilient, beautiful landscapes for generations to come.
