Ben Pope is an accomplished horticulturist with over two decades of professional experience managing and developing gardens across the South of England. As Head Gardener of a private garden in West Sussex, he leads the ongoing care and evolution of a significant landscape, combining sound horticultural knowledge with a thoughtful approach to long-term garden management.

Alongside his practical work, Ben is a well-known horticultural educator and communicator. He regularly lectures at garden shows and for horticultural organisations across the UK, sharing his expertise on a wide range of gardening subjects. His writing has appeared in leading publications including Gardens Illustrated and The Telegraph, where he explores both the practical and wider principles of gardening.

Ben has recently gained the RHS Master of Horticulture qualification and serves as a member of the RHS Herbaceous Plant Expert Group, helping to assess and evaluate plants for garden performance and merit.

At The English Gardening School, Ben tutors on the Good Gardening Diploma and Advanced Practical Horticulture course, bringing a contemporary perspective, extensive practical experience and a genuine passion for helping students develop confidence in their own horticultural practice.
