Andy McIndoe is one of Britain's most respected horticulturists, celebrated for his exceptional plant knowledge, inspiring teaching and lifelong commitment to helping gardeners create beautiful, sustainable landscapes. With more than 40 years' experience spanning nursery production, retail horticulture, garden design and education, he has built a reputation as one of the UK's leading authorities on trees, shrubs and planting design.

Andy spent 37 years with Hillier Nurseries and Garden Centres, rising from Garden Centre Manager to become the first Managing Director from outside the Hillier family. During his time there, he led the expansion of the company's garden centre business and was responsible for 25 consecutive RHS Chelsea Flower Show Gold Medal exhibits, an extraordinary achievement that helped cement Hillier's reputation for horticultural excellence. In recognition of his outstanding contribution to horticulture, he was awarded the prestigious RHS Veitch Memorial Medal in 2017.

Today, Andy works as a garden consultant, designer, author and lecturer, sharing his expertise through books, articles, garden tours and his own naturalistic garden. At The English Gardening School, he inspires students with his practical, plant-led approach to garden making, encouraging them to develop a deeper understanding of planting combinations, seasonal interest and the timeless principles that underpin successful gardens.
