We spoke to EGS alumni Sophie Lane-Fox about her time studying on the Essential Garden Design Diploma
What was your reason for doing the course?
I wanted to learn more about gardening and develop the skills to enable me to design gardens for clients.
The most useful subject you learnt on the course?
How to draw up garden plans and all the different aspects to consider when designing a garden.
Advise you’d give future students?
Visit as many gardens as you can to get inspiration for your designs.
How would you describe you work / design aesthetic?
I look to create beautiful spaces for my clients that are both relaxed and free flowing whilst also having a good structure.
As well as fulfilling the clients practical needs for their outdoor space, I hope to create gardens that lift their spirits and are places where they can unwind and destress from the demands of life.
Since completing the course how has your work changed?
I have managed to grow a good base of clients and have lots of great jobs.
What are your future hopes for your career?
I hope to expand my business further and keep the work flowing!
