Built by Landcraft and Sponsored by Mothers for Mothers and Project Giving Back, Pollyanna Wilkinson’s design depicting a journey through motherhood won the People’s Choice Award in the Sanctuary and All About Gardens category and a Silver Medal.

The expression ‘This too shall pass’ is a mantra passed between mothers navigating the challenges of raising young children and the associated mental health challenges that can come with it, from post natal depression, to anxiety and isolation. This garden is a garden for mothers and represents a place of transition: from despair to hope.  A cloister of bronze-toned walls and archways represent how long days at home with a baby can feel like either a sanctuary or a cage. A fractured pathway through the garden demonstrates the physical and mental journey of nurture and repair. For the planting, what starts as a restrained, muted palette gives way to a joyful, feminine celebration of colour, as the road to recovery, supported by other mothers, becomes clear.
